Launch of ‘Welcoming New Neighbours’ – Empowering impact of Refugee Talents on our Community
Belfast City of Sanctuary with Conway Education Centre successfully launched this project on 14th December 2023 at Belfast City Hall.
The project includes a booklet illustrating the successful impact many of our refugees are having on their local communities through unlocking the skills and abilities they bring to Belfast. The stories are rich.
It is hoped that others as they obtain leave to remain here, will draw inspiration from these refugees.
The project is supported by Belfast City Council and by the Community Fund to whom we are most grateful. It is proposed the the exhibition will be toured throughout Belfast.
Many thanks to all participants, to Pauline Kersten of Conway Education Centre and Mehrshad Esfandiari of Belfast City of Sanctuary for introducing the project and to Fatemah Jeetun for relating her story. Stories are always effective, for it is in these we can see common treads and gain inspiration for others as they settle here.
