This library serves an area of Belfast which has changed over the past few years to comprise a diverse and vibrant community.

This library with its new Library of Sanctuary status is an important hub for learning for those new to Belfast.

Congratulations to Libraries NI, Ormeau Library and to our members of Belfast City of Sanctuary who worked together to see this happen.

We hope that other Libraries in Belfast and beyond will use Ormeau as a model for Aware of Library of Sanctuary.

Ormeau had already been living by our 3 principles of Welcome, ensuring a safe environment and striving towards Inclusion and Integration with local community. The Award has been well earned and will serve as a model for other Libraries seeking an award.
