Blythefield Primary School off Sandy Row became the first Primary School of Sanctuary in Ireland. Sipho Sibanda, Joint Coordinator of Belfast City of Sanctuary spoke at the award of School of Sanctuary status to the school and presented the plaque. The new toolkit was launched geared to education in Northern Ireland.

The schools they are promoting this with initially, are in Urban Villages, part of the T:BUC strategy, with the Education Authority working with The Executive Office. It fits neatly into funding streams and also into their strategies.

At Belfast City of Sanctuary, we have to congratulate The Executive Office, the Education Authority and City of Sanctuary for working so well to produce this program and the resources attached to it.

The toolkit is online with EA. Here is a news item on the run up to yesterday’s award –https://www.eani.org.uk/…/blythefield-ps-to-bloom-into-a-sch…
